There’s no wrong reason to sell your business — but there is a right time, and a right way.

Maybe you’re considering selling your business because things are changing at home: you’ve got a kid on the way, or your partner is taking on a new role at work.

Maybe you’ve grown your business as much as you want to within your existing skill set. Maybe you’re just ready for the next adventure (or some well-earned time off).

Again, there’s no wrong reason to sell your business — but there is a right time, and a right way.

Why sell your business with us?

Quiet Light advisors are refreshingly, relentlessly honest — and we’ve got a metric ton of real-life experience

We had the luxury of choosing our buyer

Working with Joe @Quiet Light Brokerage helped us better prepare our business listing and gather all of the data needed to attract the right buyer. The advance work on the listing paid off big time because we had three offers within the first week.

Along with being one of the first online business brokerages to exist, we’re also the most experienced.

From our founder to our newest team member, every advisor at Quiet Light Brokerage has built, bought, or sold an online business. Most of us have done all three.

The Quiet Light valuation process isn’t generic or machine-generated — because your business’ market value isn’t a single static number. The real value of your business depends on a ton of different factors. On top of considering your financials, we take your unique systems, processes, and differentiators into account.

That’s how we give your business the comprehensive valuation it deserves, instead of slapping an auto-generated price on the company you’ve worked hard to build.

When you choose to sell with Quiet Light, you’ll know you’re exiting at the right time, for a fair price, with the confidence to carry you into your next venture.

Maybe you’re wondering…

Why should I sell my business with Quiet Light Brokerage instead of your competitors?

If you haven’t heard of us, it’s because we’ve been quietly (ha) doing the work behind the scenes. Everyone who works at QLB has real-life experience building, buying, or selling an online business, and lots of us have done all three. We understand nuances of the valuation and sales process that other advisors simply can’t.

What if I don’t agree with QLB’s
valuation of my business?

You’re welcome to seek a valuation elsewhere. In fact, we encourage you to do so. Everything we do is transparent and above-board, and we’re able to explain exactly how we arrive at each valuation.

Multiple clients come to us, eventually decide to work with another firm, and then return to us later after realizing we really are the best.

What’s it like to buy with Quiet Light?

Our process is tailored to each business we list, so that our valuations are as accurate as possible. We also help you get a holistic sense of the actual, detailed financials you can expect — beyond just monthly revenue in/expenses out.

Along with our experience, our Buyer Summaries are much more detailed than what you’ll find elsewhere. We want you to understand how the business will become a part of your life, and we do that through detailed interviews with our sellers.

How can you ensure my privacy?

You should be able to sell your high-revenue online business without the entire world knowing the details. That’s why every party who works on your deal must sign a confidentiality agreement before receiving any of your business information. If your business is super well-known, we’ll include additional screening to keep your information private.

How long does it take to sell my business?

Every business is different, and the length of time it takes to sell yours can vary depending on a number of factors like your preparedness, the size of the deal, and the involvement of SBA lending or private equity. In most cases, we will receive several inquiries within a week, and the average listing gets 2-3 offers. Generally speaking, small transactions typically take 30 to 60 days while larger transactions will take 90 to 150.

Will I get my asking price?

We take an approach to valuations that is data-driven and market-wise. We don’t set a price based on wishful thinking, but rather take an experienced look at multiple trends and the strengths and weaknesses of your business. We consider your asking price to be both a prediction of what the market will bear and part of our overall strategy to get your the best price possible.

With that in mind, we set a price based on the market and your goals. You will never be pressured to take a low offer or to sell in a deal that doesn’t meet your expectations. Because of this approach, our average discount rate varies between 4% – 8% (although some listings are strategically priced higher) while 47% of our listings sell at or above asking price.

Which advisor will be representing my business?

To be honest – it doesn’t matter as each of our advisors brings more experience to the table than many of our competitors can claim for their entire firms. All of our advisors are entrepreneurs who have been in your shoes. They have built. They have bought. They have sold. Our team is small, it is experienced, and there are no junior brokers we’re going to push off on you. More than that, we share best practices and insights among each other all the time. You’ll get the individual attention of a great advisor, and the collective wisdom of our all-world team.

How long is your exclusive engagement letter?

Some entrepreneurs worry about getting locked into a long exclusive engagement period with a brokerage, but at Quiet Light, our agreement is long enough that we can dig into the detailed work of analyzing your business, but not so prolonged that you’ll feel trapped. If you’re not happy with the service we provide, you won’t have to wait dog years to look at other options.
